A traditional sterling silver squash blossom necklace, strung with substantial oxidized silver beads. twelve hand-wrought squash blossoms hang from the strand, each a hollow-formed silver bead opening into a fluted petal. The strand closes with a custom hook clasp, finished with a stamped concho cap at each end. At the center hangs a large tufa cast Naja pendant, its bold crescent arms carrying the organic texture of the cast, crowned by a hand-stamped fan of radiating lines above the arch. Finished throughout with a deep oxidized patina that unifies the strand and gives the whole piece its substantial, old-pawn presence. One of a kind, now held in a private collection.

We're among those who appreciate the character natural wear puts on a piece. That said, a few simple measures will help maintain the basic integrity of your jewelry.

  • Keep it dry. Avoid submerging your pieces underwater — this helps prevent discoloration of both the stones and the silver.
  • Go easy on cuffs. Avoid bending cuffs too often, as repeated flexing wears down the silver and can cause cracking or breakage. Gently molding a cuff to your wrist for the initial fit is perfectly fine.
  • Polish as needed. Oxidation occurs naturally to every piece left out in the open. A simple dry clean with a polishing cloth — or a soft handkerchief hanging around — should do the trick.
