Stone Story
White Buffalo is not turquoise, though it's often called that. When the Otteson family first discovered it near Tonopah, Nevada, the stone was found running in veins similar to turquoise deposits — the name stuck, and it proved nearly impossible to correct once it spread. The truth is there's no metal compound responsible for turquoise's color anywhere in it. It is currently found in only one place on earth. Production from that single source has always been limited, which makes every piece that comes out of the ground worth paying attention to.
