A one-of-a-kind tufa-cast Naja in sterling silver, the crescent edged in hand-stamped border work beneath its own sprue — the funnel the molten silver was poured through, kept rather than cut away, stamped with a thunderbird at center and carrying a premium piece of Fox turquoise. Strung on brown leather with two handmade silver beads that slide to adjust the length. Struck with the artist's hallmark — CB — and stamped Sterling.

  • Keep it dry. Avoid submerging your pieces underwater — this helps prevent discoloration of both the stones and the silver.
  • Go easy on cuffs. Avoid bending cuffs too often, as repeated flexing wears down the silver and can cause cracking or breakage. Gently molding a cuff to your wrist for the initial fit is perfectly fine.
  • Polish as needed. Oxidation occurs naturally to every piece left out in the open. A simple dry clean with a polishing cloth — or a soft handkerchief hanging around — should do the trick.

Stone Story

Fox Turquoise comes out of Lander County, Nevada, from the old Cortez claims — filed in 1914. Dowell Ward bought the property in the 1940s, renamed it the Fox, and built it into one of the largest turquoise operations the state has ever had: better than half a million pounds out of the ground by 1968. Different pockets went to market under their own names — Fox, White Horse, Green Tree, Smith — depending on the color they gave up. Nothing since has come close to that run, and most of the Fox moving through the trade still traces back to it. The stone is hard, and it runs green through blue-green with a matrix that reads like nowhere else.
