We're among those that appreciate the stories a few scratches and wear can tell about our treasures, however, there are measures that should be taken to maintain the basic integrity of each piece.

• Avoid submerging under water. This will prevent discoloration of stones and silver.
• Oxidation occurs naturally to each piece left out in the open but a simple dry clean with a polishing cloth or a soft handkerchief hanging around should to the trick.
